We were contacted by a Lagrangeville homeowner who needed their multi-level wooden deck restained. Our exterior painters couldn't wait to give this massive deck a new look.
This was one of our largest deck refinishing projects. It covered a total of 3,500 square feet!
The deck was originally built to surround a pool, with upper and lower areas, an outdoor kitchen, and walkways to bring someone from the house to the lower backyard.
The pool was moved to the outer border of the deck and the area it was originally had been filled in with new decking. As a result, the deck had new wood and older wood which was showing signs of splitting leaving gaps up to an eighth inch, which causes splintering.
To prepare this massive multi-level deck for refinishing, we cleaned it with pressure washing and sanded the entire deck floor, railings, and handrail.
We refinished the deck using a Sherwin-Williams product called Superdeck Elastomeric Coating. This particular coating looks like a solid stain not taking away from the natural look of the wood while filling in larger splits in the wood locking them down and preventing further splitting from sun damage.
